Lee, T. (2011) Doctor Who: The Ripper, IDW Publishing, USA.
Doctor Who has a cult following among a wide variety of people both young and old. The franchise has spawned multiple television series, video games, movies, as well as books, comics and graphic novels!
Doctor Who: The Ripper was written by Tony Lee with art work by Andrew Currie, Richard Piers Rayner, Horacio Domingues and Tim Hamilton. It follows the Doctor as he travels to London in 1888 with Amy Pond and Rory Williams through the TARDIS. It is on the Premier's Reading Challenge Year 6-9.
A modern explanation of the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) can be seen in this YouTube video, Doctor Who: New Tardis Introduction 2012/13, Accessed 3/4/13:
The Ripper starts with a comedy of errors by Rory. He accidentally syncs his phone to the TARDIS and it downloads all of the spam emails he's ever received as Holograms. All of their emails are now talking to them trying to sell them pills and get them to change their insurance policies!
Rory thinks it would be a good idea to visit London in 1888 as this was the year that the Football League started. Together with Amy and the Doctor, the trio land in 1888 but instead of a quiet street, they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation with the prime suspect being The Ripper.
The doctor detects Kyron Radiation which means the murderer could be a shape shifting alien. Can they solve the mystery in time before anyone else gets killed?
